CONQUER THE GRAND RAFT: 3 HOURS OF FREEDOM ON HORSEBACK IN THE CAMARGUE
Today, we set off on a unique adventure : the Grand Radeau Ride, a timeless three-hour escape.
AN UNFORGETTABLE HORSEBACK CROSSING
After picking up our gear (helmets provided) and hearing the guides’ recommendations, we mount our horses. Next stop: the Bac du Sauvage, a small rustic ferry that, in just a few minutes, transports us… to another world.
Riding on the ferry, gently rocked by the soft sway, we cross a branch of the Rhône River. This is where the adventure truly begins: we enter the Grand Radeau lands, a protected area closed to the public without special permission. A rare privilege made possible thanks to La Cavale.
A WILD AND UNTOUCHED CAMARGUE
For nearly three hours, we move at a pace of walk, trot, and sometimes gallop through a landscape of raw beauty:
• Flamingos standing still like sculptures
• Egrets hopping from one marsh to another
• Bulls peacefully grazing in open plains
No buildings, no roads. Just nature — untouched and vast.
Our passionate and attentive guide shares stories about the wildlife, plants, and traditions of this fascinating land, all while quietly ensuring our safety.
A ride on the legendary beach
The highlight of the ride: arriving at the Grand Radeau beach. The white sand stretches endlessly. With a simple gesture from the guide, we are invited to ride into the waves. Pure bliss — feeling your horse play in the water, shake itself off, dance beneath the splashes… a memory I’ll cherish for a long time.
HOMEMADE TAPAS AND GOOD TIMES TOGETHER
Back at La Cavale, a warm welcome awaits us: homemade tapas and refreshments to share the experience we’ve just had, with smiles on our faces and stars in our eyes.
