After the final adjustments — helmets fitted (provided by the team) and last safety tips — we mount our horses. The pace sets in: walk, trot, and sometimes a gallop for the more confident riders. La Cavale always ensures everyone rides at their own level so all can fully enjoy the experience.
Soon, we leave the beaten path to follow a stretch of the old railway line that once connected Arles to Saintes-Maries. Here, between marshes and salt flats, Joe Hamman, a pioneer of French western films, shot his movies starting in the early 20th century.
The scenery hasn’t changed: endless horizons, traditional herds, black bulls grazing freely, white horses galloping through the water, and above it all, the majestic flight of herons and flamingos.
